Every brand has a logo. Ours has a story that is hundreds of years old.

Anansi the spider was carried across the Atlantic by the Akan people of West Africa and found a home in Jamaica, where generations of grandmothers kept him alive on verandas at dusk. He was small, but he outsmarted the lion and the tiger. He won with wit instead of weight, and he built everything one thread at a time. When we started ANANCI in 2019, we knew he belonged at the centre of it.

Who we are

ANANCI is luxury streetwear with Jamaican roots. We make clothing for people who carry their culture with them, whether they grew up on the island, in its diaspora, or simply in love with its spirit. Our pieces speak in Patois, proverbs and parish names, and they carry a gold spider as their signature.

We did not borrow this culture. We came from it. Everything we make is an attempt to honour it and to build on it, so that it keeps moving forward instead of standing still.

What we believe

Restraint is luxury. We would rather place one mark with intention than cover a garment in logos. A small gold spider at the chest. A proverb set cleanly across the back. The person wearing the piece should always be the loudest thing in the room.

Stories are meant to change. Anansi's tales bent a little with every telling, and that is why they survived. Our collections work the same way. Each one pulls a new thread from the same story, which is why everything we make carries the line "Designed to evolve."

Made for you, not for a warehouse. Every ANANCI piece is made to order. Nothing is produced in bulk to sit on a shelf. Your piece begins when you choose it, which means less waste and more care in every item. Allow two to three weeks for it to reach you. We think a story told well is worth the wait.

The web so far

Our collections are threads of one larger story. Web of Elders 002 sets the proverbs of our elders in gold. Where Yuh From? gives every one of Jamaica's fourteen parishes its own crewneck. Evolution 001 explores growth in four very different voices. Around them sit the Signature pieces, the dad hats and the finishing pieces that carry the spider every day.
